Fabric:
Satin is a warp-dominated weaving technique that forms a less number of
interlacings in a fabric. If a fabric is formed with a satin weave using
filament fibers such as silk, nylon, or polyester, the resulting fabric
is termed as satin. Satin shawls are most often made from low twist,
filament yarns. Generally, satin shawls are manufactured by floating the
warp or lengthwise yarns over four filling or horizontal yarns. The long
floats impart luster to the fabric. Silk satin shawls are also a fashion
statement these days and add a royal touch to the bridal apparel. Shawls
are also made from a combination of silk crepe and satin fabrics.
